A Garden of Prayers

Level 1

1. Tasmiyah/Before starting a task

 

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ 

In the name of Allah the most kind the most merciful

 

2. Dua for increase in knowledge

رَبِّ زِدۡنِيْ عِلۡمًا

O my Lord! Increase me in knowledge

 

3. Descending stairs/downhill

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ

Glory is to Allah

Ascending stairs/uphill

اَللهُ أَكْبَرُ

Allah is the greatest

4. Before sleeping

اَللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

O Allah! I die and live with your name

5. Before eating

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَةِ اللهِ

In the name of Allah and with the blessing of Allah

6. Before drinking water

بِسْمِ اللهِ

In the name of Allah

After drinking water

اَلحَمْدُ لِلّهِ

All praise is to Allah

7. Upon forgetting to read the Du'aa before eating

بِسْمِ اللهِ أَوَّلَهِ وَآخِرَهُ

In the name of Allah at the starting and end

8. After eating (1)

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

All praise is to Allah who gave us food and drink and made us Muslims

9. When thanking somebody

جَزَاكَ اللهُ خَـيْراً

May Allah reward you well

10. Greeting a Muslim

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah are upon you

Reply to a greeting

وَعَلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah are upon you

11. After making a mistake (1)

اَسْتَغْفِرُ ٱللَّٰهَ

I ask forgiveness from Allah

12. After you say, hear or read the name of Prophet Muhammad

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him

13. Intending to do something

إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ

If Allah wills

1st Kalimah Tayyibah (Purification)

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ

There is no-one worthy of worship besides Allah; Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the messenger of Allah

2nd Kalimah Shahaadah (Testification)

أشهدُ أنْ لا إلهَ إلاَّ اللهُ وأشهدُ أنَّ محمّداً عَبْدُهٗ وَرَسُولُهُ

I bear witness that there is no-one worthy of worship besides Allah and i bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is servant and messenger

3rd Kalimah Tamjeed (Glorification)

سُبْحَان اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّهِ وَلا إِلهَ إِلّااللّهُ وَاللّهُ أكْبَرُ وَلا حَوْلَ
وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْم

Glory is to Allah and all praise is to Allah, There is no-one worthy of worship besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. There is no power and might except from Allah, the Most High the Great
